Remote Control Station
Remote controls are basically fancy flashlights. Keep reading to find out why:
-
Whether i's for your TV, drone or video game system, most remote control systems work by sending light from the controller to a sensor that can "see" the light and turns something on or off.
-
The kiind of light sent by TV remote controls is called INFRARED light. Human eyes can't see it, but snakes, mosquitoes, and some fish and frogs can.
-
Loot at the front of your remote. See that little lightbulb? That is where the light comes from. If your remote has an antennae, it's just sending a different kind of light (radio waves instead of infrared waves, because they travel farther than infrared).
-
Each button on a remot flashes a code of infrared light at a sensor on your TV (or drone or video game). These flash codes make the device do different things.
